Latin Dance Academy (LDA) TERMS, CONDITIONS & POLICIES

- As our costs are fixed, fees remain payable in cases of absence. There are no reductions for sickness or holidays however we may offer Roll-Over Credit under certain circumstances (see below for full details).
- Suede bottomed dance shoes or jazz shoes are advisable however flat or low heeled comfortable shoes can be worn. No trainers or rubber soled shoes please as these stick to the floor when turning and can mark the floor. No stilettos or metal heeled shoes please as these damage the dance floor.
- The LDA does not accept responsibility for items lost or stolen from our venue. We offer a cloakroom service where coats and bags can be left in a secure, attended environment for a small fee.
- The LDA reserves the right to change fees or timetable without prior notice, however, we will endeavour to inform students of any changes as soon as possible.
- Health & Safety. The health & safety of our students and staff is of utmost importance to us at the LDA. Exercise is fun and good for you. However, if it’s been a while since you did any, we advise a routine check up with your doctor before embarking on one of our courses. This also applies to anyone who has recently received medical attention or has an ongoing medical condition. In our classes we advise you to work to your own ability and fitness level. You know your body’s capabilities so push yourself at a level you feel comfortable with. Please inform your teacher of any injuries before class and tell your partners during the class if necessary. Generally students should be aware of not only their own but also others safety around them. The LDA strive to offer a safe and sound environment in which to learn and we expect students to respect this in return. Dance areas should be kept tidy, clear from items that may cause trips or falls, any spillages should be cleaned up immediately and management informed, generally students should behave in a way that helps to ensure the safety of both themselves and others. No smoking is permitted inside the premises or consumption of alcohol other than drinks purchased from our bar on party nights.
- Physical contact by teachers may be necessary when helping to demonstrate or correct posture. Any students feeling at all intimidated whether by close contact from teachers or other students should let the management know immediately.
- Students should arrive promptly, appropriately dressed and attend classes regularly. Students are responsible for their own personal hygiene, please be considerate to other students who have to dance in close proximity with you! The LDA always advises a pack of breath mints, a deodorant, a sweat flannel and possibly a change of top in your dance bag!
- It is important to drink fluids at regular intervals during physical exercise, please keep hydrated. We advise you bring a bottle of water with you to class, no food or sugary drinks to be brought into the dance studios - please consume these in the canteen area. No alcohol on the premises please.
- At LDA parties we provide a bar which sells alcohol and soft drinks under strict licensing rules, therefore on party nights absolutely no drinks to be brought onto the premises other than water. Students who break these rules will be asked to relinquish their drinks or leave.
- During classes, students are expected to listen whilst still having fun. If a student is persistently causing disruption, they will be asked to leave their lesson.
- Course Information. If it's your first time here at LDA we will help you to choose the right dance course for you, we can arrange an evaluation time with one of our instructors to see how high we can place you in our program. Evaluations can only be done every Wednesday or Thursday at the Kajima Centre between 6.30pm and 9pm on the first or last week of a course when we have a teacher available to assist you. If you are already a LDA student you will need to ask your teacher before moving up into a new level. If you are not sure please don’t hesitate to ask the teachers for help and advice. To achieve a completed and continuous learning program, it is not advisable to do 2 or more Salsa (partner-work) courses at the same time. Entry to levels Salsa 3.3, Salsa 4 and Mambo 3 is subject to evaluation before registration and invitation to the class. The Latin Dance Academy reserves the right to cancel any course at any time with full refund, or roll over credit to the students affected by it. Latin Dance Academy reserves the right to refuse any student at any time for any reason. Students will not be allowed into the classroom until the time of his/her lesson - you will not be able to go in until the previous lesson is over. LDA reserves the rights to assign their teachers to each course according to the school and students requirements.
