Frequent Ask Questions

What should I wear for my dance lessons?

Anything that is comfortable and allows freedom of movement. In terms of footwear, you might find it easier to wear what you would normally wear, when you go out social dancing. Trainers (sneakers) are not generally recommended as they are sometimes difficult to move in, when dancing on the hardwood floors.

Will I need a partner to take dance lessons?

No. Most students in our group classes are primarily single, and partners are rotated throughout the class if needed. Also, make sure you are aware of the cheaper sign-up price, if you bring a partner with you!

Is learning to dance difficult?

Dancing can be quite easy to learn. Like most new things, it will take time to learn, but our instructors make learning easy and fun. A steady approach with practice will produce results in a short period.

Am I too old to learn to dance?

Anyone who is able to walk can dance! Our students range in age from 15-70. Moving to the beat and co-ordinating with your partner are things that are easily learned at any age, although dancing is something that many people choose to begin later in life.

How long does it take to learn how to dance?

It really depends on the individual. Everyone can work at their own pace and at the studio, we will try to accommodate your every need.

I am very shy and am afraid that I will feel self conscious about dancing. Is this normal?

Everyone, including our professional instructors, started from the beginning. Each time a new student begins their lessons, we remember what our first lessons were like. Our students are constantly telling us, how many people compliment their dancing when out at a club. The studio is a safe and supportive environment in which to learn to dance, and there is absolutely no reason to feel self conscious. Our programmes are designed to gradually allow you to express your new-found freedom on the dance floor!

How often should I take dance lessons?

This is entirely up to you. The average student takes about 2 lessons a week, while others still venture out with just one a week.

What is a Roll Over Credit Card?

A Roll Over Credit (ROC) is gladly given to those students who paid the full registration fee, but who were not able to actually take the course. You can use your ROC at any time, for any future course. ROCs can also be given as gifts to a friend or for buying merchandise for the same amount.

ROC never expires.

You can ask for a 100% ROC when cancelling at least 24 hours before your course starts.

If you register for more than course, you can also ask for a 100% ROC, as long as you cancel at least 24 hours before your courses start.

If you cancel your course on or after the first session starts, then you will receive an 80% ROC.

ROC will not be given if you cancel after the second session.

If you do more than one course and you cancel one of those courses during the period of the first and second session, the 80% ROC will only apply to the cancelled course(s).

ROC cannot be given when registering late. That is once your first session has already begun.

Will I have a good teacher?

Yes. All our instructors are very talented, qualified, and most of all friendly and helpful. The teachers would be rotated on a regular basis, so you get a taste of all.

Why should I learn to dance?

Students have told us that besides learning to dance, they gain self confidence, higher self esteem, improved posture and gain new friends socially, as well as many other benefits. Each person finds that dancing has helped them in different, yet similar ways.
